Congratulations to Jack Armstrong and Marta Thomas!!!!
They are the top male and female finishers of the North Fork Fit Club. They each showed very impressive weight loss, body fat percentage loss and circumference inches loss, not to mention their determination and consistency was incredible! Great job to them and to everyone who crossed the finish line!
To see the results of Jack and Marta, check out the NFFC wall at Fitness Advantage
If we do another fit club in the future, this will be the place to stay up to date! Until then...

Tonight's group fitness class was great! I enjoyed it - I hope those of you who attended did as well. Only a couple more weeks and we're down to a small group of dedicated clubbers. : ) I hope you feel you got something out of / accomplished something by participating in the North Fork Fit Club.
There is ONE MORE weigh in July 12-18. Anyone who weighed in at any point in the club can still participate in the last weigh in! Once again here are Sarah and Dan's emails for setting up a time: Sazzy8@optonline.net, Dipich6@optonline.net
Final winners and grand prizes will be announced shortly after July 20th. Good luck!

The Thinking Behind Weight Loss
One of your fellow fit clubbers wanted to share this link for anyone struggling with changing your mindset about weight loss. She said it has much to do with "cognitive therapy" and is not a fad-like approach. I do not personally know anything about this book, but here is the link for anyone interested in looking into it.

Hello,
Unfortunately we only had 4 confirmed yes's for tonight's cooking demo. Because there is some cost and time involved on the presenters' parts, we felt it was best to postpone to a later date and hope to receive a larger crowd. I apologize for any inconvenience. Please check the blog and also our new website (www.fitnessadvantagenf.com) for any kind of news/updates regarding Fitness Advantage and the North Fork Fit Club. Thank you very much. Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi NFFC!
I am posting the following on behalf of F.A. and NFFC member Doug Roberts and his wife Mary (please respond by posting a comment!):
"Mary and I are getting a little bored with our carb-less, cheese-less dinners. We generally grill some lean meat and have a veggie on the side. We have been looking for ways to spice this up a bit.
We love asian food and indian food, and found a way to modify one of our favorite dishes, Chicken Tikka Masala, to make it fit Ken's program. The recipe is here:
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chicken-Tikka-Masala/Detail.aspx
We skipped the basmati rice and naan (sad face). We subbed fat free milk for the heavy cream, and used fat-free yogurt for the marinade. And we loaded it with the spices they recommend, we subbed olive oil for the butter, and didn't use sugar. It tasted too good to be "on-program," but we think we might have nailed it. The only problem is that we could only really do this on a Saturday because it took so much time.
Does anybody know a good, quick spicy and tasty meal to make on weeknights when we don't have over an hour to make dinner?
Thanks, guys, and see you at the next weekend.
Doug

Belly Info + A Recipe
FIRST, besides the most recent post, don't forget to look at older posts that may have meeting info or other helpful info.
SOME GENERAL KNOWLEDGE:
(From Dr. Mehmet Oz)
Ideally, your waist should measure less than half your height (do it at the belly button—go ahead and suck in). That means if you're 5'5", yours would be less than 32.5 inches. The reason: The omental (large piece of connective tissue/organ) fat beneath your stomach muscles causes inflammation, which drives many of your body's other critical numbers in the wrong direction. To lose inches at your waist: Focus on slicing off 100 calories a day. Since salad dressings sabotage many a good intention, one idea is to make this nutty recipe part of your routine: 1. Mix 1 tablespoon each of walnut (or hazelnut) oil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar; add salt and pepper to taste.2. Chop 1 small tomato, 1/4 cup diced onions, and 6 sliced mushrooms.3. Pour the combo over 1 head of Boston lettuce.Makes 2 servings, about 150 calories each.
Also, the link below gives some very specific information on "why you can't seem to get rid of your belly fat":
