Communication Through Blogging...

We had a great turnout at our first meeting! You'll be getting a lot of future communication through emails or this blog. We'll send info on future events, meetings, etc, so keep checking the blog or your email.

Your next weigh-in should be approx 5/12-5/15, so be in touch with Dan or Sarah to schedule (Dipich6@optonline.net or Sazzy8@optonline.net)

You can use this blog by writing a "comment" after Posts. For example, include a healthy recipe you'd like to share, or announce that you'll be meeting at a park at a certain day/time to walk/run in case other club members want to join you.

Stay connected to help keep each other motivated and on track!

  3. We have had a good week. We brought our own food to work all week (vs. buying overstuffed sandwiches) and had decent success cooking dinners we enjoyed. I've worked out 3 of 4 days, which I haven't done since...well...since I used to be a lot more fit and svelte.

Here's the latest challenge though- I got greedy and tried to do a little light jog with the dog last night in the woods. Bad idea. Turned my ankle badly on a root and now I'm hobbled. It will be a lot harder to win the competition without being able to use my left leg for a few weeks. Any ideas/suggestions for working out? Obviously I can do upper body/abs, but...cardio?

    Thanks,

    Doug

  4. Bummer...Hmm.. depends on how the ankle is exactly. Swollen? If just a bit sore but not too bad and not swollen, how do you think a bike would be?...test by pointing and flexing foot. If that works that would be good b/c you're not putting a lot of weight on it and you're kind of keeping it in the flex/point the whole time. But if you try it and it hurts at all just stick to the weights until it's feeling a bit better. Hopefully it won't be too long and you'll still get great benefit from weights, so don't worry! Also elevate that foot when you can.

  5. Thanks Sarah- good advice. Cranked out some abs/pushups last night. ankle didn't hurt as much as my lack of core strength did. baby steps!

Also, it seems I can only comment on posts vs. create new posts. Is that correct?

We managed to enjoy eating over the weekend without feeling like we were eating terribly. Shared a nice tuna entree fri night, no beer (low-carb beverage instead), lotsa salad. Feeling good so far.
